ADHD Mentoring

ADHD Mentoring is when someone with ADHD has the opportunity to connect with someone else who has ADHD to share: experiences, insights and knowledge. My program is catered to youth aged 12-17 and work to break down stigma and feelings of inadequacy and begin to truly understand how their ADHD brain works. Mentoring offers a relaxed and comfortable environment to work on (often) difficult areas such as: time management, emotional dysregulation, feelings of overwhelm, organization, or whatever it is you may be struggling with.

My philosophy when it comes to ADHD Mentoring is to meet youth where they are at; whether that’s connecting through video games, playing board games, colouring, exercising or simply just hanging out. Meeting the youth where they are at creates a more natural and comfortable environment to discuss our mutual lived-experiences with ADHD.

Peer mentoring has been shown to have significant, positive effects on youth with regards to: anxiety, depression, interpersonal relations and self-esteem, as shown in the image below (Haft, Stephanie L et al., 2019, Child and adolescent mental health vol. 24,4 (2019): 318-328. doi:10.1111/camh.12331).

Peer mentoring testimonial background

Eli. W, Youth

“Aaron was really fun and great and helped me to learn how to manage my time better as well as many other useful skills.”

Tanya. S, Parent

Such an amazing program; such an amazing person! My kiddo did this and while he was a “tough nut to crack” in the program, there were small changes at home that made huge differences! If you’re on the fence, jump off and jump in!.”
